Wed, March 29, 2006 - 12:01 PMFunny. This was mentioned in the Gothic Belly Dance Tribe too...but she was described as a Gothic dancer. She does seem to be "fusing" a number of dance and martial arts forms. It would be fun to see her perform in person. An excuse to visit Spain again! Yay!

My favourite aspects:
-LOVED the leather belt. I am now inspired to go gather some of those cheesey 80s belts I keep seeing at the thirft shops, and do something with them!
-Aqua + white cowrie shells + blue wig = GORGEOUS!!! It never occured to me to dance with a colored wig, but I adored the effect, here. And I loved the shells on a bright pastel background.
-Partially wrapped pigtails. After the ubiquitous yarn, felt-dred, and cowrie hair falls, I've finally seen something that I could still be me, in. Now I'm all excited to get fake ponytails and see what I can do with them.
-I always knew Lorena McKennit would be great bellydance music. ;-)
-Plain peacock feathers as props-- no fans, no costumes-- just the full feathers themselves. Hm.... -
